Report on Manam recommends urgent need to evacuate affected islanders

A recent report compiled and released by the Bogia District Administration has recommended the immediate evacuation of five affected villages on Manam Island, following recent eruptions.

Prepared by officers from the District, the report states, that the affected people need to be moved to care centers on the mainland, while other villages to be assessed and relocated for temporary settlement.

This is because of the continuous unpredicted eruptions on the island, poses a risk to islanders.
